Places to visit

Mont Saint Michel
Le Pommereu is only 7 miles from the most impressive attraction in the area and is a must for your visit to this area. The massive abbey soars above the historic buildings at the base. It's fame also derives from the bay's extraordinary tides. The abbey is also illuminated at night. The narrow cobbled streets house many shops and restaurants, the most famous and expensive is La Mere Poulard famed for its omelettes but at least it costs nothing to watch the chefs beating the eggs.

Saint-Jean-le-Thomas
This is the nearest beach to le Pommereu and is situated just to the north of Avranches.

Granville
This is traditional seaside resort complete with casino, seafront and gardens, as well as extensive shopping and a market on Saturday morning. You can also take the boat trips to Iles Chausey or the channel islands, but be warned the boats only leave and arrive back near high tide. (19 miles). Those guests who want play golf will find a 9 and 18 hole Golf courses, near by in Breville-sur-mer.  

Cancale
The ancient fishing port where you can still watch the fishermen unloading their catches and mending their nets. Offshore are hundred of acres oyster beds and you can buy them from the oyster stalls or eat them in the many restaurants on the quayside. (20 miles)
If you take the coast road to Cancale you pass many picturesque villages and continue onto St Malo.

St Malo
St Malo with its walled, medieval nucleus and narrow cobblestone streets is interesting coastal town as well as offering trips to channel islands. It is well worth spending time walking around the ramparts or visiting the grand aquarium. Again it offers a wide selection of shops and restaurants. (31miles).

Rennes
Rennes is the municipal capital of Brittany with wide city streets and canals. The most extensive for shopping and restaurants.(38 miles).
